180784957-BookkeeperFinding a great bookkeeper to handle your business’ basic financial activities is easier said than done. However, if you look for these four qualities in your next bookkeeper, you’ll probably find someone who will do the job right.

1. A Basic Understanding of Financial Terms- Your bookkeeper should have a basic understanding of the differences that exist between the five main types of financial accounts: equity, income, assets, liabilities, and expenses.

2. Detail Oriented- A bookkeeper is responsible for taking care of minute tasks that ultimately contribute to the bigger picture. Your bookkeeper should be able to take care of all of the little things that require attention when it comes down to your business’ financial operations.

3. A Willingness to Follow Through- You want a bookkeeper who will make sure that projects and questions are kept active until they are done. They need to be responsible for following through because you, as a business owner, are too busy to make sure that all of these financial projects get completed. Although you’re there to assist, financial projects are something that they must be mainly responsible for.

4. Good Communication Skills- If your bookkeeper has a question or doesn’t understand something, they must be willing to reach out for help within their network of professionals. Communication is critical so that you always know what’s happening with your financial operations without having to do all of the work.

At Cathy E. Parker, E.A. Bookkeeping & Tax Service, we possess all of these needed skills and more. We’re confident that you won’t be disappointed when you turn your bookkeeping operations over to us.
