Tax Dates

Tax SeasonIf you’re like many people, tax season might fill you with dread. However, it doesn’t have to be this way. As long as you properly prepare, you may find that filing your taxes this year is a simple, hassle-free process.

» Put All of Your Tax Forms in One Place. After your employer sends you your tax forms and you start putting together receipts and information regarding any deductions you want to claim, avoid leaving this information in different places. Instead, put all of this information in a dedicated folder or put it in a designated drawer in your desk.

» Think About Changes in Your Filing Status. As tax season approaches, think about whether your filing status will be different than last year. For example, your filing status might be different if you got married or divorced, if you had a child, or if one of your children can no longer be claimed as a dependent.

» Start Saving. Although it’s always nice to receive a tax refund, this might not happen every year. If you think that you could end up owing on your taxes this year, start saving up before you get the bill. This way, you can avoid tax debt and start saving up for other things.

If you’re still worried about filing your taxes during this year’s tax season and you want to make sure everything is done right, let us at Cathy E. Parker, E.A. Bookkeeping & Tax Service help you out. We can file your taxes for you and explain all of the details on your return.
